CVE-2025-22501: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2025-22501 is a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability discovered in the Improve My City WordPress plugin versions 1.6 and below. The vulnerability was reported by Trương Hữu Phúc and publicly disclosed on March 18, 2025. This vulnerability allows for Improper Neutralization of Script-Related HTML Tags in a Web Page, enabling Reflected XSS attacks (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue with a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 7.1 (HIGH), with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The vulnerability is tracked under CWE-80 (Improper Neutralization of Script-Related HTML Tags in a Web Page). It allows unauthenticated attackers to inject malicious scripts that can be executed when users visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into websites running the vulnerable plugin.
