CVE-2025-24174: 
macOS vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2025-24174 is a security vulnerability affecting multiple versions of macOS, including macOS Ventura 13.7.3, macOS Sequoia 15.3, and macOS Sonoma 14.7.3. The vulnerability was disclosed on January 27, 2025, and allows an application to bypass Privacy preferences. This issue was discovered by security researchers Arsenii Kostromin (0x3c3e) and Joshua Jones (Apple Security, Apple Advisory).

The vulnerability stems from insufficient checks in the iCloud Photo Library component of macOS. Apple addressed this security issue by implementing improved checks to prevent unauthorized privacy preference bypasses. The vulnerability was initially assigned a CVSS v3.1 score of AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, though this was later removed during reassessment (NVD Database).

The vulnerability allows malicious applications to bypass Privacy preferences on affected macOS systems, potentially giving unauthorized access to sensitive user data and privacy settings. This could lead to unauthorized access to protected user information and circumvention of established privacy controls (Apple Security).
