CVE-2025-24660: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in wp.insider Simple Membership Custom Messages plugin versions through 2.4. The vulnerability was discovered on January 18, 2025, and was assigned CVE-2025-24660. This security flaw affects WordPress installations using the Simple Membership Custom Messages plugin (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 7.1 (HIGH) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The security flaw is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). The vulnerability allows for Reflected Cross-Site Scripting attacks and can be exploited without authentication (Patchstack).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when visitors access the affected site, potentially compromising user security and website integrity (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.5 of the Simple Membership Custom Messages plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.5 or later immediately.
