CVE-2025-26880: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The SKT Skill Bar WordPress plugin contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability, identified as CVE-2025-26880. The vulnerability affects versions up to and including 2.3 of the plugin, with the issue being discovered and publicly disclosed on April 11, 2025. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping in the plugin's functionality (WPScan).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) issue, with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.5 (Medium). The attack vector is network-based (AV:N) with low attack complexity (AC:L), requiring low privileges (PR:L) and user interaction (UI:R). The scope is changed (S:C) with low impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability (C:L/I:L/A:L) (NVD, Patchstack).

The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page. This could enable attackers to inject malicious scripts, redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads that execute in visitors' browsers (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 2.4 of the SKT Skill Bar plugin. Website administrators are advised to update to version 2.4 or later to remove the vulnerability. The security issue is considered to have a low severity impact and is unlikely to be exploited (Patchstack).
