CVE-2025-2750: 
Python vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A critical vulnerability (CVE-2025-2750) was discovered in Open Asset Import Library (Assimp) version 5.4.3. The vulnerability affects the Assimp::CSMImporter::InternReadFile function in the CSM File Handler component (code/AssetLib/CSM/CSMLoader.cpp). The issue was disclosed on February 25, 2025 (GitHub Issue).

The vulnerability is classified as an out-of-bounds write (CWE-787) issue. The bug occurs in the CSMLoader.cpp file where arbitrary data can be written to arbitrary addresses through the manipulation of mPositionKeys and mNumPositionKeys members. The vulnerability has received a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.3 (MEDIUM) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L (NVD).

The vulnerability could potentially lead to remote code execution if an attacker can trick a victim into processing a maliciously crafted CSM file with an affected version of Assimp. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely and requires low attack complexity. A proof of concept exploit has been publicly disclosed and demonstrated using a specially crafted CSM file.
