Overview

Vulnerability in the Oracle BI Publisher product of Oracle Analytics (component: XML Services). Supported versions that are affected are 7.6.0.0.0 and 12.2.1.4.0. This vulnerability was discovered and reported by Jean-Michel Huguet of NATO Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and was disclosed on April 15, 2025 (Oracle CPU).

Technical details

The vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle BI Publisher. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS 3.1 Base Score of 5.4 (Integrity and Availability impacts) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L (NVD).

Impact

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle BI Publisher accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle BI Publisher (Oracle CPU).

Mitigation and workarounds

Oracle has released security patches for the affected versions (7.6.0.0.0 and 12.2.1.4.0) as part of the April 2025 Critical Patch Update. Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply Critical Patch Update security patches as soon as possible (Oracle CPU).
