CVE-2025-50052: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability has been identified in flexostudio's Flexo Counter WordPress plugin, tracked as CVE-2025-50052. The vulnerability affects versions up to 1.0001 and was discovered by Huynh Dong Quang (BlueRock) on May 15, 2025, with public disclosure occurring on June 23, 2025. The vulnerability allows for Reflected XSS attacks in the plugin's web page generation functionality (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 7.1 (High) with the following vector: CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:L. The issue is classified under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation) and requires no authentication to exploit (Patchstack).

This vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into affected websites. These injected scripts would be executed when visitors access the compromised sites (Patchstack).

Currently, no official fix is available for this vulnerability. However, Patchstack has issued a virtual patch to mitigate the issue by blocking potential attacks until an official fix becomes available. Website administrators are advised to implement the mitigation immediately (Patchstack).
