WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The Simple Contact Form Plugin for WordPress – WP Easy Contact plugin is affected by a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in versions up to and including 4.0.0. The vulnerability exists in the plugin's 'emdmbmeta' shortcode due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes. The issue was discovered and disclosed on June 4, 2025, and has been assigned CVE-2025-5539 (NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) issue with a CVSS v3.1 Base Score of 6.4 (Medium).
