CVE-2025-8568: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

The GMap Generator plugin for WordPress contains a Stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability (CVE-2025-8568) discovered on August 11, 2025. The vulnerability affects all versions up to and including 1.1 of the plugin. The issue exists due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'h' parameter (NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (CWE-79) issue with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 6.4 (Medium). The attack vector is Network-based (AV:N), with Low attack complexity (AC:L), requiring Low privileges (PR:L), no user interaction (UI:N), and has a Changed scope (S:C) with Low impact on both confidentiality and integrity (C:L, I:L) and no impact on availability (A:N) (NVD, AttackerKB).

When exploited, this vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with Contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever any user accesses the compromised page, potentially leading to theft of sensitive information or manipulation of page content (NVD).

The vulnerability requires an authenticated user with at least Contributor-level privileges to exploit. The attacker needs to manipulate the 'h' parameter in the plugin's functionality to inject malicious scripts that will be stored and executed when other users view the affected pages (NVD).

The plugin has been temporarily closed as of August 5, 2025, pending a full security review. Users are advised to disable and remove the plugin until a patched version becomes available (WordPress Plugin).
