CVE-2020-14836: 
MySQL vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2020-14836 affects the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Optimizer) in versions 8.0.21 and prior. This vulnerability allows low privileged attackers with network access via multiple protocols to compromise MySQL Server (MITRE, ORACLE).

The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS Base Score of 6.5 (Medium) with the vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H. The attack vector is network-based, requires low attack complexity, needs low privileges, and no user interaction. The scope is unchanged, with no impact on confidentiality or integrity, but high impact on availability (NETAPP).

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash, leading to a complete Denial of Service (DoS) of MySQL Server (MITRE).

The vulnerability is considered easily exploitable by attackers with network access through multiple protocols. The attack requires low complexity and low privileges to execute (ORACLE).

Oracle has released patches to address this vulnerability in MySQL version 8.0.22. Users are strongly recommended to upgrade to this version or apply the relevant security patches (UBUNTU, GENTOO).
