CVE-2021-46628: 
Bentley MicroStation CONNECT vulnerability analysis and mitigation

This vulnerability affects Bentley View version 10.15.0.75. The vulnerability is related to improper validation of user-supplied data when parsing BMP images, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. The issue was discovered by Mat Powell of Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative and was assigned CVE-2021-46628 (ZDI, Bentley Advisory).

The vulnerability exists within the parsing of BMP images. The specific flaw stems from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. The vulnerability has been assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 3.3 with the vector: AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N (ZDI).

If successfully exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to disclose sensitive information from affected installations of Bentley View. The vulnerability could potentially be leveraged in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process (ZDI).

Bentley has issued an update to address this vulnerability. Users are recommended to update to version 10.16.02.* or more recent versions of the software. As a general best practice, it is also recommended to only open BMP files coming from trusted sources (Bentley Advisory).
