TIBCO JasperReports Server vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2022-41563 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Dashboard component of TIBCO JasperReports Server and its various editions (Developer Edition, AWS Marketplace, Microsoft Azure). The vulnerability was disclosed in December 2022 and affects multiple versions including 8.0.2 and below, and version 8.1.0 across all editions (CVE Mitre).

The vulnerability allows a low-privileged attacker with network access to execute Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks on the affected system. The successful exploitation requires human interaction from a person other than the attacker, making it a two-stage attack vector (CVE Mitre).

When successfully exploited, the vulnerability enables attackers to execute malicious scripts in the context of the affected application, potentially leading to unauthorized access to sensitive information, session hijacking, or other malicious activities within the application's security context (CVE Mitre).
