CVE-2022-41640: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability was discovered in Rymera Web Co's Wholesale Suite WordPress plugin versions 2.1.5 and earlier. The vulnerability was identified on October 16, 2022, and publicly disclosed on November 28, 2022. This security issue affects authenticated users with subscriber-level privileges or higher (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) issue, categorized under CWE-79 (Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation). It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 5.4 (MEDIUM) from NVD with the vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N, while Patchstack assigned it a slightly higher score of 6.5 (MEDIUM) (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to inject malicious scripts, including redirects, advertisements, and other HTML payloads into the website. These injected scripts would be executed when guests visit the affected site (Patchstack).

The vulnerability was patched in version 2.1.5.1 of the Wholesale Suite plugin. Users are advised to update to version 2.1.5.1 or later to resolve the security issue. Patchstack has also issued a virtual patch to mitigate this vulnerability by blocking potential attacks until users can update to the fixed version (Patchstack).
