CVE-2024-47315: 
WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

A Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability was discovered in GiveWP, a WordPress donation plugin and fundraising platform. The vulnerability affects versions through 3.15.1 and was disclosed on September 25, 2024. The issue was identified by security researcher Joshua Chan (Patchstack).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-352 (Cross-Site Request Forgery). It received a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (HIGH) from NIST with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, while Patchstack assessed it with a CVSS score of 5.4 (MEDIUM) with vector string CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L (NVD).

The vulnerability could allow malicious actors to force higher privileged users to execute unwanted actions under their current authentication. The specific impact varies case by case, but it has been assessed with a low severity impact and is considered unlikely to be exploited (Patchstack).

The vulnerability has been fixed in version 3.16.0 of the GiveWP plugin. Users are advised to update to version 3.16.0 or later to remove the vulnerability. Patchstack users can enable auto-update for vulnerable plugins (Patchstack).
