WordPress vulnerability analysis and mitigation

CVE-2025-10125 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Memberlite Shortcodes plugin for WordPress in versions up to and including 1.4. The vulnerability was discovered and disclosed on September 17, 2025. The issue specifically affects the plugin's 'row' shortcode functionality due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes (NVD).

The vulnerability is classified as CWE-80 (Improper Neutralization of Script-Related HTML Tags in a Web Page). The issue stems from improper handling of the 'class' shortcode attribute in the 'row' shortcode implementation (NVD).

The vulnerability allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages. These malicious scripts will execute whenever a user accesses the compromised page, potentially leading to data theft or manipulation of user interactions (NVD).

The vulnerability was patched in version 1.4.1 of the Memberlite Shortcodes plugin, released on September 10, 2025. The update includes security improvements for sanitizing and escaping the 'class' shortcode attribute in the 'row' shortcode (WordPress Changeset).
